Discussion:
[seam-dev] Seam 3.1.1 status

I've recently had some improvements and bug fixes commited to the Seam
mail module and I would like to get them out in the open in
non-SNAPSHOT form.

Is a 3.1.1 release still being planned, or would it be possible to do
individual module releases as needed?

+1, I'm voting for 3.2.0 myself, unless we can make sure that the security
stuff is also released with 3.1.1.

Is there still work to do on Security or are we at a place where we
can release what we have?

stopped using it. (i know, irresponsible me)

ill try to reproduce and file a bug report

Security has an external extensions module, which are additional
authentication integrations. I don't know much other than that about it.

We're not planning on continuing with any further releases for Seam 3.x,
there's an incredible amount of resources required to test and prepare
for a release. Instead, we should be focusing all of our efforts on
DeltaSpike for any new features and ongoing development.

Maybe we can still do some minor per module 3.1.x releases until DS is
ready to accept non-core modules such as mail. Is that reasonable?

Also, I'm still not clear as to the plan for modules such as mail. Last I
heard DS was only only going to include core EE the modules (jsf, jpa, cdi
enhancement) until it hit a certain point of maturity. Is that still the
case?

There's nothing stopping a module from doing their own release. I'd keep it in the 3.1.X releases though to say its compatible with Seam 3.1. I also need to bring up the idea of a DeltaSpike sandbox so we have somewhere to put all these extensions before they are pulled into the core. I haven't gotten to it yet

I don't know how much Seam 3 momentum remains, but the sooner the better
for the sandbox.

If Seam 3.x is in a discontinued state, it'd be great getting sandbox added to DeltaSpike.

+1 for that :)

I see a lot of these emails simply going to seam-dev. Please please forward
or respond to deltaspike-dev as well (unless you need to be a member, in
that case they may bounce or wait to be allowed in).
